Motoki Tanizawa "Moky" Sound Engineer / Representative, Rabbit & Partners

Motoki “Moky” Tanizawa moved to the United States in 1995, launching his music career as a resident DJ at ‘Dharma’ in the Lower East Side of New York City. He subsequently worked as a PA engineer at legendary venues including ‘IZZY BAR,’ ‘Wetlands Preserve,’ ‘CBGB’s,’ ‘The New Victory Theater,’ and the ‘John F. Kennedy Center.’ following the closures of many venues after the 9/11 attacks, he shifted his focus to the recording studio, honing his craft as an engineer in the gritty forefront of the NY street Hip-Hop scene.

Upon returning to Japan in 2003, Moky began his Tokyo career at the legendary underground space ‘Aoi Heya’ (Blue Room), owned by Masako Togawa. He played a pivotal role in launching several iconic live houses, including ‘Moon Romantic’ (Tsuki Miru Kimi Omou), ‘Saravah Tokyo,’ and ‘Haretara Sora ni Mamemaite’ (Haremame). deeply versed in analog sound systems, he has been instrumental in the acoustic design of these venues.

Currently, he serves as the representative of his own corporation, Rabbit & Partners. Focusing on “sound and resonance,” he produces events and spatial presentations that offer unique auditory experiences. His current work revolves around both live mixing and studio recording; he operates live sound for festivals and tours while also engaging in recording and mixing for diverse artists both domestically and internationally.

Additionally, he continues his sonic exploration as a personal assistant to Makoto Kubota and as a Chief Researcher at SDLab, led by Seigen Ono.
